Waiting for M2 would be only if you want a notch, white screen sides, maybe a few extra port and mag safe (which is amazing), or you can wait for it's release so that prices on M1 Air drop a bit. I assume you are not a power user since you still use MBP 2013, that being said, MacBook Air M1 will perform so much more than needed. I personally didn't wait for M2 Air because I think it's going to be a lot more expensive and I don't think I will need much more power for what I do, which is college work and starting out on graphic design, also don't really like new "leaked" design.
And yeah, battery lasts so long, 33% lost in 3.5 hours.

Unless I need windows for work I'm not switching back. I come from windows desktop, mostly gaming computers. I just got my first apple computer and it is MacBook Air M1 8/256 Gold. I'm just so excited to discuss this topic. Not that anyone uses anything other than VMs these days, or anyone sane would use Windows without getting paid for it.

It's nearly as stable too, and vastly more stable than Windows garbage on any hardware, even Apple's intel hardware, which ironically enough because Winblows shitty third party driver model, Apple laptops would run Windows better and more stable than most machines made to run Windows natively. Otherwise, Fedora on a damn x1 is nearly as good MacOS these days. It just sucks that Apple is the only company making legit commercially supported Unix workstations, and the whole ecosystem. They constantly purposely cripple lower end products, and even higher end products when they know they're on a set release schedule to get people to upgrade.

Or the new series 7 watches, where you have to spend more to get steel if you actually want a decent color scheme. They're constantly doing shit like this these days. Or how about the bullshit iPhone 11 Pro screens that deeply scratch inside empty pockets, as if Apple didn't know the screen was shit. I mean two fucking ports on $2000 laptops in 2021, what the fuck. Which would be hilarious but nothing would surprise me with Apple these days. That will improve over time unless Apple suddenly abandons it. For instance, it will only support a single external monitor, and just general patchy support for the new micro-architecture which isn't even two years old yet. but in terms of actual practical features, it's going to be an upgrade, a considerable, worthwhile upgrade, in almost every area, however there are a few limited areas that may or may not be important to you in which the newer product is going to be more limited.

To answer your question, it's a massive upgrade in terms of technology. having to wait like 2 months! Fucking hell. Oh yeah, the biggest downside of all and main reason I settled for this thing. Problem is in the real world, life doesn't wait. Probs around September, so if you can wait, I would wait for that cuz it's gonna be the same price as the current models which are already 2 years old.
but the current M1 Air is already 2 years old, and they're for sure releasing a new one later this year. Now I gotta waste my time and return this for the privilege to spend $500 on a Pro that has less battery life and is larger than I need it to be, though I guess with the smaller bezel it's really not much larger is it. Makes me kinda wish I just stuck with Thinkpads and got a new X1 for the same price, what, $1800 or so all in? I think I got my last Thinkpad for under $1500. Is this a fucking joke? How do I do power, a monitor, and say, a hard drive, without some ugly ass dongle that dangles off the thing? Fuck that noise. Only reason I didn't get that.ĭownside is two ports.
Upside is no stupid ass touchbar like the 13" MBP. or I have to wait around until the new air comes out later this year or new 13" MBP? fuck that Gonna return it to get the Pro 14" 16 GB, 1 TB, with base spec cpu.
